ALS Oil & Gas, the new international oilfield services company, formed through the acquisition of Reservoir Group by ALS Limited in 2013, welcomes the latest addition to its growing portfolio with the addition of North American well intervention specialist, DSI Thru Tubing Inc.
The acquisition of DSI further enhances ALS’ ability to service the upstream Oil & Gas industry with leading technical services across all major geographies.
Established in 2010, DSI Thru-Tubing Inc is headquartered in Calgary, Canada, with operations throughout North America with specialized, premium thru tubing intervention services. DSI was formed with a vision to create a leading company of thru tubing experts, focused on a responsive customer service and a culture of innovation to address customer issues. DSI offers a range of unique, specialist thru tubing tools with innovative solutions and specializes in the milling of FRAC plugs and the associated bespoke tools and experienced team of 48 staff to deliver the best in class thru tubing services. DSI offers drillable FRAC plugs, ball seat systems, motors, mills and cleanout accessories. From design through to production, service and support, customer service delivered by a highly qualified team of experts has become synonymous with the DSI brand.
The acquisition of this leading service capability adds to ALS Oil & Gas Specialist Well Monitoring division’s technical and product expertise, specifically in thru tubing. DSI will become part of existing ALS Oil & Gas brand, Wellvention, and will allow Wellvention to offer their own range of specialist fishing tools together with innovative efficiency improvement tools such as their PACS FRAC cleanout hydraulically operated circulation tool to the US and Canadian markets. Wellvention already has a strong footprint in other key oil and gas hubs globally; the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East and joining forces with DSI is the next step on realizing the brand’s global ambitions. It is expected that DSI will generate approximately $19m (CAD) in revenue to ALS in 2014.
DSI’s existing management and staff will all be joining ALS Oil & Gas. For current President, Dave Griffith, a large benefit of this deal will be the opportunity to become part of a global team, as he explains, “we have a lot in common with Wellvention, a focus on specialist tools and a real passion for thru tubing. Joining forces with Wellvention will give us access to new proprietary tools and the backing of the global infrastructure of ALS.”
ALS Oil & Gas MD, Pascal Bartette commented: “There is a natural synergy between DSI and Wellvention, both in terms of geographical focus and the complementary product ranges. Culturally, we believe DSI’s customer-driven approach will ensure a quick and smooth integration of the people and services with Wellvention and the wider ALS Oil & Gas group.”
